Words that carry on
Some books change the way we look at ourselves. Over the years, a few works have accompanied me especially closely – some because they question cherished certainties, others because they put into words what I experience on the mat. Here I share what is dear to my heart: a few books to think further with, and some texts from my own practice.
Books I recommend
Yoga kontrovers
Mathias Tietke dissects ten popular misconceptions about yoga – clever, clear and with conviction. A book that invites you to think for yourself, precisely because it questions comfortable truths. (Phänomen Verlag)
Drachenyoga
Rahimo & Brigid S. Täube reinterpret the snake symbol from a Christian negative to the original life force. Personal accounts, background and exercises for emotional integration – a work to immerse yourself in.
Wenn Dein Körper sich erinnert
Eva Weinmann's book on trauma-sensitive yoga combines theory and practice. It takes the shame away from trauma and shows mindful ways back into the body. (Knaur)
Bis hier und nicht weiter
Rolf Sellin on recognising and honouring your own boundaries – thought through systemically, close to everyday life and especially helpful for sensitive people.
Liebe kennt deine Grenzen
Ludwig Schwankl on energetic boundaries in relationships – a warm-hearted companion for everyone who wants to bring closeness and independence together.
“A good book reads you while you read it.”— Daria Czarlinska
Texts from my practice
Over the years, many small texts have emerged that I share in lessons and courses. They are part of the experience and are available on request:
Mantras & their meaning. Explanations of the mantras we work with – from the tuning-in and tuning-out through Aad Guray Nameh, Adi Shakti, Gobinde Mukande and Hummee Hum to I am the Light of the Soul and Kal Akal. Why we sing at all, and what the sounds move within us.
Yoga knowledge. Short texts on the foundations of the Kundalini teachings – such as “Your 10 Bodies” and “The 5 Sutras of the Aquarian Age”.
Inspirations. Poems and thoughts for pausing that accompany me and that I love to share.
You will also find the most important terms in my little yoga glossary.
Yoga knowledge to take with you
Two teachings accompany me especially – I'm happy to share them as a little taster:
The 5 Sutras of the Aquarian Age
- Recognise that the other person is you.
- There is a way through every blockage.
- When the time is right, begin – and the pressure eases.
- Understand through compassion, or you will misunderstand the times.
- Vibrate with the cosmos – the cosmos will clear the path.
Your 10 Bodies – in Kundalini Yoga we are more than our physical body. We work with ten subtle bodies:
- Soul Body
- Negative (Protective) Mind
- Positive (Expansive) Mind
- Neutral Mind
- Physical Body
- Arcline (Arcline)
- Auric Body (Aura)
- Pranic Body
- Subtle Body
- Radiant Body
