Book Review

In our Western, Christian-influenced culture, the serpent is a symbol of temptation and danger. In the teachings of yoga, by contrast, it stands for the Kundalini – the creative life force that rests within us. It is precisely this reinterpretation that makes “Dragon Yoga” by Rahimo and Brigid S. Täube so valuable to me.

What it's about

Across a good 420 pages, the authors weave together personal accounts, philosophical background, sacred scriptures and therapeutic exercises. It is about the integration of feelings – about learning not to tame the original, wild and living part of us, but to live it consciously. A book that invites you to dig deeper.

What I noticed

As rich as the text is, I missed the images and illustrations for the many exercises. This makes it not always easy for beginners to put the practice into everyday life. But anyone who enjoys being guided through reading and is willing to take their time will find a powerful companion here.

My conclusion

“Dragon Yoga” is not a book to leaf through quickly, but an invitation to meet your own life force with more naturalness. For everyone who would like to get to know the symbol of the serpent anew – well worth reading. (Phänomen Verlag)
